RAFFAEL SEYFRIED
Biography
Raffael Seyfried's work takes place on the boundaries between acoustic and electronic material. He explores the dynamic processes and properties that are present in both media. By subtly blending these elements, he creates warm and unusual soundscapes, free from the constraints of any particular genre. At the centre of his live performances is the interaction between piano and modular synthesizer, sounds that change and influence each other. The result of this multifaceted process is a sometimes planned, sometimes spontaneous and improvised diverse soundscape.
As a composer and orchestrator, Raffael Seyfried worked extensively on international film and television productions such as Gunpowder (BBC/HBO 2017), Patrick Melrose (Showtime 2018), Hotel Mumbai (2018) or Home (Augenschein 2020). He also composed music for various projects such as the radio feature Mars Landing in Rio Tinto (Deutschlandfunk 2018) and the dance piece Unbearable Darkness (Tanzhaus Düsseldorf 2018). His music has been part of exhibitions at the Whitney Museum (New York) and MoMA PS1 (New York). Raffael Seyfried's most recent film scores include the music for the Till Endemann directed feature film Ein Leben lang as well as the documentary feature The Lost Souls of Syria by French director Stéphane Malterre. He received a nomination for the German Television Award 2022 for Best Music for his score for Ein Leben lang.
